Happy Owners
Cedar
"I got Cedar from a Paisley litter in the summer of 2012. She is a wonderful dog. She is as loyal as they come and super intelligent. She cuddles on the couch to watch a movie, even went on a 2,000 mile road trip to San Diego and back with me. She will do tricks to entertain our guests, and runs with me to keep me in shape! Cedar is beginning her agility training and spent part of last winter studying to be an avalanche rescue dog. She even met the mayor of Denver! My vet loves her too. She was handled right as a puppy so she is a superstar standing at the vets for shots and exams. She's an all around great dog and if I had a bigger house I'd get another one. Thanks Lora!"

Aggie
"I can't thank you enough for Aggie! We've had him for over a year now and he has been nothing but a delight. He essentially came house broken at 8 weeks, only urinating indoors one time. He was everything I had hoped for in a dog; full of personality around the house, but so well behaved and relaxed whenever we are just lounging. While being the perfect house dog and friend, he also has an amazing mind of a stock dog. He is advancing rapidly in his training on working sheep and will be moving to cattle soon. He is an all around joy to be with, and couldn't ask for more in a dog. Thank you so much!"

Roo
"Our pup we got from you, Roo, has been the joy of our life. She is very smart, and active. Within the week after we picked her up from you we had her home trained. She now knows just about every trick in the book. She is good around kids, and other animals. She goes everywhere with me, and always travels well. Her favorite activity is playing Frisbee. Since adopting her from you we have move to East TN. She quickly adapted here, and is loves hiking in the Appalachians, and trips to the Outer Banks, NC. I hope you breed her mother again. Shoot me an email if you do."

Shawnee
"Thank you for all of the reminders about the puppies! Shawnee is growing into a very lovable, playful, and mischievous little puppy. Her favorite activities right now include giving kisses, playing with our neighbor dog, playing fetch and chewing up the occasional shoe or two. She was spayed last week and is almost fully recovered! Shawnee is the highlight of our world and we couldn't imagine life without her. We want to thank you for bringing her into our life!"

Woody
"My theory going into this was that a vet and rancher ought to know how to breed a great Aussie, and I am glad I took that instinct seriously. Woody is a solid, beautifully built dog–energetic, devilish, and funny. He runs with the big dogs at the dog park and herds everyone into a corner. He has learned several tricks, always on 2-3 tries. I really appreciated the temperament synopsis for the litter and the informative articles before getting the pup. I've had 7 dogs and 5 Aussies. Woody is clearly beautiful–people fall all over him when I try to walk him. We can hardly walk a block without someone asking where I got him. His temperament with people and dogs is 100% trustworthy. It's hard to describe how clever and devilish Woody is, but he does have a following on my Facebook page; several people have told me they cannot eat breakfast without seeing what Woody did the day before. While he's off-the-charts frisky, he is never nervous and is unafraid of loud noises, thunder, hail, trains, etc. What a guy."

Ozzie
"Ozzie is a wonderful pup. He loves any activity that involves being with his people, especially romping in the snow and going on hikes. There is not a mean bone in his body and happily greets any dog or person, especially children. We are often stopped to ask where we got him and have wholeheartedly recommended Frying Pan Ranch. At 67 pounds, he’s a big Aussie but also very mellow as long as he gets his exercise. Thank you for breeding such a wonderful dog."

Charlie
"We previously had Labs in our home and weren’t expecting to have a dog that was as cuddly and affectionate as a lab. We were dead wrong. Charlie is very protective of our children and our house and he is very gentle with the horses and cats. He is very smart and learns fast. He has been to a a lot of lacrosse and soccer games and goes into my wife’s office most days (a therapeutic riding facility). All in all, we love what we got and couldn’t be happier with Charlie!"

Yogi
"We got the last (but has to be the best) pup in the litter that was ready to go on Oct. 6, born on August 6 (2018). He is a real sweetheart, loves to talk and snuggle and seems to have never met a stranger in his meetings and greetings with all other dogs and folks we encounter on our daily hikes. He has turned out to be such a laid back little love. Doing really well with training and his only naughty side is digging a bit in the yard. He's also quite sweet to our to old gals, a lab about to turn 15 and an aussie mix who is almost 13. We couldn't be happier with him and he also appears to take after his Dad as I remember him being a talker. He loves to howl! A very friendly Aussie for sure and extremely laid back for one as well!"

Belle
"We picked up our puppy the end of January 2018, should have known better, we took 2 Grandkids along. We had to put our last Aussie down after 15 years (smartest dog ever seen). I was very hesitant about getting a dumb dog! I am so impressed with Belle, she goes to work every day, minds very well for a dog her age, is just fantastic with kids and people in general. Is very protective, lets you know when someone is coming. When we are driving she has to have her butt on my leg, or be in contact most always. She loves to play with all other dogs, but is Very ornery! She is non stop, wound up! My neighbor just passed away from cancer in December, Belle knew something was wrong. She would lay under his wheel chair when we were together. We had plans to get him one of your pups when he got better, he didn't make it. I'm so happy with my dog, and will recommend everyone to you!"

Dakota
"Thank you for such an awesome, beautiful, loving dog. We got Dakota from the 2017 Rooney/Quincy Litter. She was the last pup in the litter to go. It was such a smooth and easy process of adopting her. Thank you for providing all the information regarding shots, feeding, and so much more to make our bringing her homes easy. She is a loyal, intelligent, quick learning, playful dog. She was house trained almost as soon as we brought her home. She loves to snuggle and welcomes everyone with hugs and kisses; she has a quirky, funny personality. She loves her daily runs at the park and along any creek or lakeshore. She has taken to fishing, hiking, agility, and travels like a pro. She goes everywhere with me. She loves to lay on the back of the sofa with her head on my shoulder! She is a very important part of our family. Thank you again for all you do and the quality of the dogs you breed/raise."

Darcy
"I got Darcy (formerly Lola) from the Fall 2018 Brumby and Rooney litter and could not be more in love with her! Before moving to Colorado, I did a search to find the perfect breeder as I have wanted an Aussie my entire life. Dr. Lora's expertise being a vet herself, having many successful past healthy and happy litters, and the fact that I could choose the right puppy for me (not just put a deposit based on a picture) made me choose Frying Pan Ranch. Darcy is happy, healthy, and gets so much attention from everyone because of how sweet and cute she is! Her favorite activities include: getting belly rubs, hiking, making other Aussie friends at the dog park, and eating lots of peanut butter. I couldn't imagine my life without her and will always get future Aussie's from FPR!"

Mou
"Mou is the sweetest girl in the world. She loves to snuggle and always has to be right next to one of us, preferably on top of us. Everyone that meets her falls in love with her. She even converted my mom into a dog lover—the woman who faked a “dog allergy” when I was a kid so my siblings and I would stop asking for a puppy.
Being such a good natured girl, all she wants in life is to please us, so because of that and because of how dang smart she is, training has been a breeze. If she senses that we’re unhappy with her or god-forbid we tell her “no,” she rolls over right onto her back begging for belly rubs to make up for it and hardly ever repeats the offense again. It is pretty hard to say no to such a sweet face, though....
Our lives really are forever changed because of this pretty little thing in more ways than expected. We’ll never be able to take a normal walk down the street again without being stopped by people every block. We’ll never be able to sit on the couch alone. We’ll never be able to eat anything again without someone staring intently at us. But, we can’t remember how boring it was to live any other way! Thank you so much for providing us with such a great girl!"

Emmylou
"Emmylou is from the January 2019 Litter. We knew right away she was a sweet soul and the perfect temperament to match our lifestyle. She's curious and adventurous and will happily greet any person or dog with no signs of fear or aggression. She is very relaxed and snuggly at home but equally loves to be hiking outside or romping in the snow. Emmylou is super loyal and must follow her people from room to room! She's adjusted well to our city life in Denver and we can't picture our home without her. Our experience with Frying Pan Ranch and Lora has been so positive, we really appreciate all the follow-up emails and tips/recommendations. You can tell how loved all of the Ranch's puppies are. We'd recommend Frying Pan Ranch to anyone looking for an Aussie."

Hondo
"We got Hondo from the 2018 Quincy x Rooney litter. What a guy! Hondo is quickly on his way to being boss hog around our ranch, and he’s not yet a year old. He’s not afraid of anything and will take charge of any problem (skunk, rock chuck, piece of firewood, or leaf —he is still a puppy after all). He’s also become a highly proficient ground squirrel hunter—those are in high-demand around these parts.
Despite his dominant personality he is so incredibly gentle with our special needs daughter. He instinctively knows not to play rough with her and to be gentle.
Another amazing trait of this dog is his watchfulness. We noticed our two year old wasn’t near us outside but then quickly found her in the pasture next to the barn—Hondo right by her side. He loves his kids (we have 5!) and takes his job as guardian very seriously—especially to the youngest two.
We take both our Aussies with us when we go into the mountains for firewood. Hondo is excellent to stay with us and keep watch over the kids. He also isn’t afraid to take a dip in a high mountain lake to cool down! We haven’t even started Hondo on livestock training (although from what we’ve seen he shows great potential!) and yet we’re so pleased with this guy. Thank you for providing such a quality dog, we love our Frying Pan Ranch Aussie."

Hayden
"Hayden is so incredibly SWEET! Always ready to hike, play and run, but at home she’s a complete cuddle bug who likes to sit in your lap. She’s incredible with my 7- and 9-year old sons. Even though we have only had her since July, I can’t imagine life without her.
Thank you!"
UPDATE: "You can say that she truly is the perfect dog. She’s always game for a trail run or climbing a mountain (literally—she gets summit fever!), but when we’re home she is so mellow that she acts like an old golden retriever. She’s the least neurotic herding dog I have ever met; my first aussie, a rescue, was so tightly wound that she’d go on a 20-mile trail run and then beg for the ball for an hour and then organize all of her bones. Hayden just gives love, cuddling when we want to and snoozing when we’re all busy. She has made the pandemic lockdown so much better."

Jake and Cooper
"We wanted to share a picture of Jake and Cooper with you. We are so blessed to have them. We can’t believe they are a year old now. They are so loving, smart and playful. They are just so happy to be. We are so grateful to have the both of them and cannot imagine life without them. They definitely keep us going. In this picture they were enjoying the 4th of July evening."

Evie
"Evie has been a great addition to our home. She was very easy to housebreak and has excelled in her obedience training, almost anticipating what you're going to ask of her and is very quick to pick up on commands. She is currently working her way through agility training and loves to jump over, scoot through, and race across any and all obstacles.
To merely say she is fearless and brave would be an understatement. Evie has a strong protective instinct which is equally balanced by her silly charm and whip-smart mind. She loves to play with other dogs, go for long walks/runs/hikes, keeps an eye out for backyard intruders (squirrels, birds, bugs, and cats), and usually ends her day lounging on the couch trying not to be the first to fall asleep.
She loves to "talk" and will let you know if you're doing something that she doesn't approve of - especially if you take too long to give her a promised treat. Most mornings she greets us with a little song that I can only imagine she learned from her parents on the ranch, which I have to say is very endearing. In short, Evie has been a great pup and constant companion and we can't wait to see how her personality continues to grow. Thanks so much to Lora (and Rooney and Quincy) for making the puppy picking experience as easy as possible and for delivering not only a head-turning aussie but also a welcome new family member. "

DeeJ
"It is hard to believe that over a year has passed since we brought home DeeJ (Helen) and join her older sister Dakota. They are best buddies..... She settled in immediately. She is a loving, high energy and mischievous girl, fun personality and smart as a whip. Ball playing is an obsession with her & She will play fetch for hours daily. She loves to snuggle and sit in your lap, camping, playing in any body of water, riding in the truck and going to the Dog park. She is very vocal and loves to "talk". We are so grateful to have both the girls as part of our family. I can't imagine life without either of them. Thank you for such wonderful dogs!"

Maverick
"From the winter of 2018 litter, Maverick is just honestly the best dog that I can imagine. He's smart, friendly, loving, and the perfect companion. He's as happy camping and hiking as he is cuddling up for a Netflix binge on the couch. He was so easy to train and was house trained and listening to easy commands within just a few weeks of being with me. People constantly stop us on the trail or the street to say how handsome he is, and obviously I agree! I recommend FPR to anyone who is looking into Aussie pups and can't express my gratitude enough! Theo
"I have only owned Australian Shepherds, and chose Frying Pan Ranch for their experience in breeding Aussies, for Dr. Lora’s expertise as a vet and the fact that FPR Aussies are ranch-raised. I also researched other FPR Aussie owners, and found happy owners with intelligent, even-tempered Aussies full of personality.
Theo has been incredibly easy to train, from potty training to obedience to tricks, which he typically picks up in only a few short training sessions. Like most Aussies, he’s a high energy dog who loves to have a job to do and go on adventures - he loves long walks and hikes, playing with other dogs and people, and learning new agility obstacles.
Theo is playful, loyal, intelligent. He has such an exuberant personality and is constantly making us laugh with his antics - from performing tricks, running agility faster than I can keep up, or making silly Aussie expressions and smiles. Theo is a loyal companion, always checking in and keeping a watchful eye on his humans. He’s a fierce watchdog who patrols the yard - and recently caught a rat (though he was more keen to play with it than remove it from the perimeter!). He has a very playful and curious demeanor and wants to make friends with every dog and animal he meets. After the adventuring is over for the day, you’ll find Theo cuddled up next to me or or laying at my feet - always touching the humans at all times. He’s very sweet and affectionate and likes to give wiggly hugs when he greets any of his human pack.
I couldn’t be more in love with the newest member of our family; thank you so much!"

Remi and Sage
"We have not one, but TWO red Merle females from Frying Pan Ranch. Same mom and dad but different litters. Remi joined us first in 2018, and has been a gentle sweet addition to a busy family with three young girls. Sage followed in 2019 as a surprise Christmas present. Sage has proven to be the most loving and interactive dog we’ve ever known. They love each other too. We cannot imagine life without them. Frying Pan Ranch turned this former canine tolerater into a full blown dog mom.

Odie
Odie was from Brumby x Rooney November 2018 liter and instantly won our hearts. We were lucky number 7 and we were lucky having Odie join our crazy, active family. We have a farm near by in Golden and often see the cows out to pasture. He just knows he’s supposed to do something with those calves. This picture was from this past Christmas and Odie was all too happy with his new Snoopy toy.
Thanks for bringing Odie into our life, he’s such a great pup!
